Our family has had Keeshonds as pets for over 30 years. We have had the fortune of owning healthy Keeshonds with great coats and adorable personalities: kind, wise, obedient and affectionate. All our Keeshonds have their characteristic personalities that make them unique individuals. This page is a tiny shrine for the Keeshonds of the past. |
"Mörkö", Yllabo Godiva, 1988-2001 Sire: Gavimir Dolphin "Dudde" Dam: Solvargens Askunge. Breeder: Gunlög Krook. |
Our very first Keeshond was "Maissi", Mäntyrinteen Marijke, 1972-1982 Sire: Kitron Rami, Dam: Mäntyrinteen Sanny. Breeder: Pihlaja. |
Mörkö was a
large, richly coated bitch with good bone structure, but her
body could have been slightly more square. Her name "Mörkö"
means "monster" in Finnish (the Groke in Moomin characters)
although her character was particularly kind and affectionate.
People found this contradiction funny and the whole town -
particularly children - learned her name and people started to
call all Keshonds "monster dogs". Mörkö lived a long and
healthy life accompanying us in all our hobbies, trekking,
hiking and prospecting in Lapland. |
Maissi
was the lineage of Alkestitan kennel dogs. She was beautiful
English-type Keeshond with square body. Old photos reveal that
she had rather big ears compared with current Keeshonds. One of
her sisters had incorrect colour: light brown coat with
chocolate brown dark areas. Her lineage is no longer found among
Finnish Keeshonds.

Young Jerry resembled very much his British father: a tall, strongly built male with distinct male features, good topline and strong bone structure. He had a plush, light-coloured coat with bluish gray mane and clear colour distinctions. He had a kind and affectionate character. Tested PHPT negative, BB-hips. 00 elbows, 00 knees and good eyes. ST4/TSH normal. |
